Do you want to know more about  Falklands Veterans Foundation?  Here is a short paragraph about where the money will be going…

This April coming 2012 will mark 30 years of the conflict. The Falkland Island war was the biggest naval action to take place since World War II.

Over 900 soldiers lost their lives in the short 74 days of conflict.

The Foundation need to raise a great deal of money every year to keep their project going and Love Southsea really want to do as much as possible to help.

’Liberty Lodge’ is a small comfortable dwelling the veterans charity have built on the Falklands Islands. They raise money both to keep the lodge running but also to pay for the men/women & families who were caught up in the conflict to be flown over to the lodge for a small break to help give them some of closure. This is a proven way to help the mental anguish our-service personnel have to deal with in their day to day jobs through fighting for our Queen and Country.

What a great reason to have a wonderful party, full of fun and laughter whilst raising lots of money for a superb cause.

If you book a table for ten you can get one ticket free – so ask your friends and family along and get Christmas

10 reasons why to shop local Southsea!!!

  1. Simple Economics
Every pound spent at an independent, local business will generate at least three times more direct local economic benefit than pounds spent at an absentee-owned chain because their purchasing power remains local.
  2. Local Businesses Supply the MOST Local Jobs
Over 80% of the jobs in the UK are provided by small and local businesses. If every individual made a conscience effort to buy local, our employment rates would rise exponentially.
  3. A Friend of the Environment
Independent, local businesses tend to make more local purchases which equals less travel, less congestion and most importantly, less pollution in our air.
  4. Independent Local Businesses Define our Community’s Character and Strengths
The local business community is a reflection of our community, our culture and the environment of those that live here, so it helps define who we are. While in addition, local businesses on average invest more in non-profit organizations whose mission is to carry out the vision of our communities. As a whole, our community becomes stronger.
  5. When Local Businesses Succeed, Competition Thrives
If we could live in a community where buying local was on the top of everyone’s mind and we as a community made conscience decisions to buy local, entrepreneurs would emerge, more businesses would open and the consumer’s choice would multiply.
  6. Independent Local Businesses Make a Good Use of Your Tax pound
Local businesses require little infrastructure investments and have a better understanding how to make more efficient use of public services compared to larger/chain retailers.
  7. Better Customer Service
Local businesses tend to hire local people who are familiar with the community have good relationships with their customers.
  8. Local Businesses Settle in Their Communities
When local businesses find success in our community they stay and they thrive. So even if they do expand to open franchises elsewhere, their base remains here, which means their pound stays here as well.
  9. It’s Just Good Business
Buying local is much like what we do to give back to our communities- whether it’s being active in the PTA, local non-profit organisations, donating to philanthropy events through both our time and resources we constantly strive to make this a great community. So why not make a conscience decision to buy local?
  10. Local Businesses Take the Risks and Create Opportunity for our Community
Because they understand the local market, local businesses are more willing to take risks to serve neighborhoods where residents have fewer traditional, measurable resources, or where revitalization is just getting started.
