When we spoke to the University of Portsmouth about the new Creative Network South scheme, an exciting new initiative offering free business support and access to finance for creative and cultural enterprises looking to grow, we knew it would be perfect for our local independent market traders!
The scheme launches at a free event at the University of Portsmouth’s Eldon Building on Thursday 7th April. It's the product of a partnership between Hampshire- and Solent-based arts organisations and universities, and Creative Industry Finance, and is managed by Creative United with funding from Arts Council England.
The programme is designed to support creative and cultural businesses across England to become self-sufficient and to achieve their ambitions.
Since launching across England in 2014, the programme has supported over 200 creative cultural enterprises in scaling up by delivering free one-to-one business advice and finance guidance. Thus far, 20 of these supported businesses have accessed finance totalling nearly £350,000 from the programme’s Lending Partners.
The launch will give businesses the chance to find out more about the CNS initiative, and to meet the Creative Industry Finance team to discover how the initiative can offer vital support.
There’ll also be opportunities to tour around the University of Portsmouth’s new facilities, and talk with business advisors!
Registration for the event starts at 6:00pm, with the launch itself commencing from 6:30pm. Professor Catherine Harper, the Dean of Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) at the University of Portsmouth, will introduce CCI at 6:35pm, before Laura Doye, Creative Producer at the University of Portsmouth and the New Theatre Royal, talks about where the creative industries meet the world of business.
There’ll be an introduction to the Creative Industry Finance programme at 6:55pm, followed by opportunities to network and meet advisors from 7:15pm.
Refreshments will be provided on the evening!
