Love Southsea Promotions Policy
Love Southsea is both an event organiser specialising in street markets, and an online lifestyle brand. The two sides to our business work very well together — we promote our monthly street markets to our huge online regional audience, and the markets help shape Portsmouth's cultural scene by giving local artists and creatives a place to sell their wares, make money, and ultimately turn the work they're passionate about into a job. The markets bring life into Southsea Shopping Centre for both residents and shops in the high street, and we average a footfall of 12,000 each market, as registered by camera technology in the high street precinct.
As an event organiser, we aim to keep costs low so that our independent traders get a fighting chance to earn some money. Thus, as the organiser, we don't earn a vast amount of money through our markets. We still pay out to employ a market management team, and to advertise events, etc. because we want them to grow for the benefit of the local economy.
To support the markets, we launched the Love Southsea Promotions programme, through which we can take on other businesses in the city as partners, sponsors, etc. This in no way affects our opinions of the businesses we work with, nor does it influence the way we talk about the businesses we work with online. We work solely with businesses and brands small and large in Portsmouth which we ourselves enjoy, use, and believe in.
Love Southsea Promotions is beneficial for us as it offers another income stream which we can use to support our street markets, and is beneficial to the businesses and brands we work with because they can share their message with our huge online social media audience.
